Elisa IndustrIQ

Working with data visualisation

Elisa industrIQ offers quite varied portfolio for interested companies, focused on industry 4.0 technologies. IndustrIQ has companies and people all over the globe, and has been growing steadily over the years.

I initially started in the Smart Factory suite, which provides a digital twin of the customer's factories. Later the work started to become the effort of unifying the look and feel of the IndustrIQ companies in the form of a design system and collaboration.

Other work was creating custom UIs for customers using our services, which is what you see here. These are for expert users, with very specific needs, so they needed to quite different from the usual customer centric design.

Our team worked on a lot of different projects, but most of the work was done with B2B customers, and we had to make a lot of assumptions while working on the designs.

It was quite rare to get feedback on the designs, and sometimes we weren't properly informed on the actual use enviroment. Such details as "is this visible on the factory floor on a big TV or is it used in the office on a laptop". I think another difficulty is that the workers take what they're given, and make best use of it, and don't complain.

We were very free to work on designs and what felt like the best solution, and we didn't have a lot of legacy baggage to carry. It was very nice to start from nothing, and end up with a clean solution by the end.
